What does it cost to hire a Python developer?
A senior Python developer in the Netherlands charges roughly 70 to 125 euro per hour excluding VAT. What the work costs in total depends more on the kind of work than on the rate: an API or an integration can be scoped well in advance, while a data or AI project often starts with finding out whether the data is good enough. That is why we split that kind of project into a short first step with a fixed price, after which you decide whether to continue.
How do you hire a good Python developer?
Start with what the developer has to build, because Python is used for very different work. For a web application or an API you want someone with experience in Django or FastAPI and databases, for data or AI someone who knows pandas, models and the pitfalls of messy data. Ask in an interview about something they built that is still running in production, and how they found out when it broke. Then agree that the code lives in your own repository from day one.
Is Django still used in 2026?
Yes. Django is still one of the most widely used Python frameworks for web applications, and new releases keep coming with security support. It is strong when you need a database, users with different permissions and an admin environment, because those come built in. For an application that is mainly real time, or a lean API, FastAPI or Node.js is often the better fit.
Is a Python developer the same as a Django developer?
Not quite. Every Django developer writes Python, but a Python developer who builds data processing or models has often never worked closely with Django's ORM, migrations or permissions. For a web application, ask specifically for Django experience; for data or AI, Python experience is what counts. We have both in house and tell you in advance which of the two you actually need.
